Shashi abduction case still baffling police

Faizabad, Nov 9 (UNI) Changing statements by the main accused of the 'Sashi abduction case' has further puzzled the case, police said here today.

The police had interrogated Vijay Sen Yadav, the former driver of Uttar Pradesh food Processing Minister Anand Sen Yadav, who had been taken on a 24 -hour police remand.

'Shashi,' a III yr Law student of Saket Degree College, who went missing on October 22 from Faizabad.

''The accused, who is said to be the relative of the Minister is changing statements, leaving everyone baffled.

At times, he says, Shashi committed suicide by jumping into the river Gomti in Sultanpur district and at times he confesses to the crime, saying he pushed her into the river,'' Superintendent of Police Gopesh Nath Khanna said here.

However, following the lapse of the remand duration, Vijay, had been sent to jail, the SP added.

Meanwhile, security has been strengthened at the victim's house at Sahulara village in Milikipur area.

On October 31, Vijay had surrendered following the charges against him.

Mr Yadav had resigned from the Mayawati Cabinet on Tuesday after the victim's father had Revelled allegations against him.
