Mecca Masjid blasts: Bangladeshi woman, her husband held

Hyderabad, Nov 9 (UNI) A Bangladeshi woman and her husband have been arrested in connection with the May 18 Mecca Masjid blasts here in which nine people were killed.

Talking to UNI here over phone, Charminar Assistant Commissioner of Police Reddenna said special police team arrested the woman, Wazia Sultana, late last night on charge of providing shelter to prime acussed Mirza Ur Rahman, who was also a Bangladeshi and a member of Harkat-ul Jihadi Islami (HUJI).

Police sources said the special police teams arrested in Mumbai a Bangladeshi immigrant Siddique Ur Rahman, who was residing in Hyderabad since 1992 without legal documents.

Siddique Ur Rahman was arrested based on the information given by his wife Wazia Sultana.

The arrested would be brought to Hyderabad tomorrow.

Police said Siddique and his wife were running a Maderassa (Urdu school) in the city for several years.

The couple provided shelter to the HUJI activists and arranged fake passports, driving licences and visas to Bangladeshi citizens, residing in the city, police added.
