Fishermen clash: Attempt to murder cases against 40
Puducherry, Nov 9 (UNI) Police today registered attempt to murder cases against 40 people in connection with yesterday's group clash between fishermen at Veerampattinam, in which 12 people, including senior police officials, were injured.
Meanwhile, a Peace Committee meeting chaired by Ariyankuppam Legislator Anantharaman was progressing on the Veerampattinam Shengazhineer Amman temple premises.
It may be recalled that the two groups clashed with deadly weapons, following which the police fired in the air to quell them.
Superintendent of Police Vijayakumar, Inspector Bhakthavalsalam and two constables, besides the fishermen, sustained injuries in the clash, according to police.
