Patna, Nov 09 (UNI) Several political parties in Bihar today condemned the murder of senior advocate and former secretary of district Bar Association Ram Naresh Sharma at Begusarai last night.
Demanding immediate arrest and punishment to the culprits, the ruling Janata Dal(United) and opposition CPI and CPI(M) said Mr Sharma was gunned down by members of a criminal gang against whom he was fighting a case in the local court.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has ordered a two-member inquiry team, comprising IG-CID Rajesh Ranjan and Additional Director General of Police(Headquarters)Abhayananad, and asked them to submit a report by next week.
He also announced an ex-gartia of Rs ten lakhs to the family of Mr Sharma, who was also the Assistant Public Procecutor(APP)in the district.
CPI Bihar State Council Secretary Narayan Lal condemning the murder said if the killers were not booked within the next 48 hours, the party would launch a statewide protest against 'lawlessness' in the state.
Mr Sharma(55) was gunned down by three unidentifed assailants in his house last night, official sources here said.
