WB Gov signs tripartite MoU with Voltas and JUSCO

Kolkata, Nov 8 (UNI) The West Bengal Government signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) with JUSCO and Voltas Ltd here today for a 30-year public private partnership for development and maintenance of water and sewage infrastructure in the state's IT hub of Salt Lake Sector five.

This was the first BOT project in the country in Water Sector where Public Private Partnership model was sought to be implemented.

Official sources said the plan, drawn up by Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority(KMDA), envisaged comprehensive development of basic infrastructure and services for the area spanning over 300 acres, a prime destination for IT and ITES industries.

The project is estimated to cost about Rs 59 crore.

JUSCO and Voltas together bided for this project and were selected as partners.

The sources said land would be provided free of cost, while 35 per cent of Capital Cost would be to be funded by the Government of India under JNNURM fund.
