Photo journalist roughed up by police outside PCA stadium

By Staff

Mohali, Nov 8 (UNI) Police roughed up a photo journalist outside the PCA stadium when he was trying to enter it for his assignment here today.

This led to a strong protest by the mediapersons.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Hargobind Singh allegedly kicked Aman Sharma, a photo journalist with a foreign news agency, as he tried to enter into the stadium.

Enraged over the incident, scribes raised anti-Punjab Police and anti-PCA slogans demanding an immediate apology from the officer concerned who, according to witnesses, was in 'high spirits' when the incident took place.

As the journalists sat down on the entrance of the stadium, raising slogans against Punjab Police, several PCA functionaries tried to calm them down.

It was only after the concerned officer apologised that the scribes entered the stadium.
