Naveen favours HC benches in Sambalpur and Berhampur

Bhubaneswar, Nov 8 (UNI) Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today favoured setting up of permanent benches of High Court in Sambalpur and Berhampur for the convenience of the people of Western and Southern Orissa.

In a letter to Orissa High Court Chief Justice Ashok Kumar Ganguly, the Chief Minister said there was need for setting up of permanent benches of High Court in Sambalpur and Berhampur.

Mr Patnaik said the people of Western and Southern Orissa had been agitating since long for setting up of the benches.

He said since many tribal and poor people live in these areas in need of money could not come down to Cuttack for justice .

Quoting the recommendations of Jaswant Singh Committee report on the setting up of court benches, the Chief Minister said there was enough justification for the setting up of the High court benches in these two places.

Mr Patnaik said people of the areas could get speedy justice if the benches of the High court were established in these two places.
