Shimla, Nov 8: At least four people were killed and two injured in separate incidents in various parts of Himachal Pradesh during the last 24 hrs, police sources said today.
Two people were killed and another injured after their jeep fell into a gorge Eku Mord in Sarkaghat sub-division of Mandi district yesterday evening.
The sources said the vehicle was on its way to Palampur in Kangra district from Tang in Mandi district when it met with an accident.
While one person, identified as Ravi Thapa, 24, died on the spot another identified as Baljeet Singh, 24, died on way to the hospital, they said. Another person identified as Thakur Dass, 19, has been admitted to a government hospital at Mandi, they added.
The sources said the cause of the accident was, however, not known, a case has been registered and investigations are on, they added.
In another accident in the state, two people were killed after their truck veered off the road and fell into a gorge at Chadol in Bilaspur district on the Manali-Chandigarh National Highway yesterday, the sources said.
The truck was carrying cement to Punjab when it fell into a gorge after the driver failed to negotiate a sharp curve.
The sources said police with the help of local people extricated the bodies of the persons from the mangled truck after much labour, adding that the dead have been identified as Rajesh and Anil.
