Islamabad, Nov 8 (UNI) Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz sought the opposition support for evolving consensus on national issues.

Speaking at the National Assembly here yesterday, he said,''The opposition should come at a common platform on the national issues as it has an important role to play,'' the Associted Press of Pakistan reported.

He said there is a need to evolve national consensus to create a conducive atmosphere for the general elections.

He also regretted the absence of the opposition from the session, saying,''They should participate in the proceeding of the Assembly and express their point of view. We should keep national interest on top.'' The Prime Minister said it is for the first time in 60 years that the assemblies would complete their tenure and hoped that the country would see a better future.

National Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution endorsing proclamation of emergency in the country.
