Nagpur, Nov 6 (UNI) Workmen are racing against time to complete preparations for the winter session of the Maharashtra Legislature, scheduled to begin here from November 19.
The entire administrative machinery here went into a tizzy after the government decided to advance the session by two weeks, as this threw the time-table for preparations haywire. The session was originally scheduled to begin on December 3, but has been advanced in view of the Legislative Assembly elections in Gujarat. The schedules drawn up by various departments had to be revised to get everything ready in time for the seat of the government to shift to the second capital of the state on November 12, a week before the session begins.
Nagpur Divisional Commissioner Anand Limaye has issued instructions that the Public Works Department (PWD), Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), electrical, police and revenue departments should review their plans and ensure completion of work before the Secretariat began functioning here, according to an official press release here.
The railway administration would open a special counter at the MLA Hostel as well as the railway station for legislators and senior officials to book their train tickets, the release said.
Similarly, Indian Airlines would also make separate arrangements for them for booking, it said.
Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) would ply special buses for government employees and legislators to travel to and from various destinations, including the railway station, MLA Hostel, Council Hall and residential quarters, the release said, adding that the presiding officers of the two Houses of the Legislature, ministers and senior officials would be accommodated at Ravi Bhawan guest house, while the ministers of state would be put up at Nag Bhawan guest house.
District Collector Sanjay Mukherjee said the guest houses of other departments and undertakings would be requisitioned as and when necessary.
