Two women burn to death for practising witchcraft
Baripada, Nov 7 (UNI) In a shocking incident, two women were burnt to death by a ward member who suspected them of practising witchcraft at Jhaunrasahi under Goru Mahishani Police station of Mayurbhanja district, about 120 km from here yesterday, police said today.
They said Gobardhan Mandal, a ward member of the Jhaurna Sahi, suspected that his two-year-old daughter died due to the sorcery practisied by Sambari and Singo Majhi.
Incensed over the issue, he called the two women to the village, tied them with a rope and poured kerosene before setting them on fire.
The ward member had been arrested and a case lodged against him, police said.
