Puducherry, Nov 7 (UNI) AIADMK Puducherry unit Secretary A Anbazhagan, MLA, today alleged that the Congress Government in the Union Territory was a sinking ship due to tussle within the party.

Talking to newspersons here, he said the law and order situation had deteriorated with crimes like burglary and murders occurring in large numbers in the last six months. Police could not act freely because of political intervention.

To discuss this serious issue, he had moved a calling attention motion in the Assembly. But it was not admitted, he said, adding it was violation of all Constitutional norms and legislative Assembly rules. A reply had been sent to him in which the Chief Minister had stated that 'India Today' had conferred Puducherry with an award for maintaining peace and harmony.

He said even AICC General Secretary, in the presence of Welfare Minister M Kandasamy and Industries Minister V Vaithilingam, had stated recently that the law and order situation had worsened here.

But this was not denied by the ministers.

In this situation, the Chief Minister should have resigned on his own, he added.

Mr Anbazhagan demanded the government to come out with a white paper on rice smuggling issue since more than two states were involved.

He alleged that ministers in the Tamil Nadu Government and DMK workers from the Mannadipet and Thirukkanur area were involved in the smuggling. Only three persons were arrested which was an eye wash, he alleged, adding the AIADMK had sought a CBI probe into the incident.

He urged the Territorial Administration to initiate action against those who paid tributes to top LTTE leader Tamilselvan.
