TN Governor extends Deepavali greetings

Chennai, Nov 7 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala, AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa and leaders of various parties today greeted the people of the state on the occasion of Deepavali festival.

In a message here, the Governor said, ''Let Deepavali, the festival of lights, rekindle the spirit of unity and bring in peace and prosperity and all round development in the state and the nation.'' Ms Jayalalithaa, in her message, said let this festival bring prosperity to the people of Tamil Nadu and do away with communal clashes and other social evils.

Leaders of other parties, including TNCC President M Krishnaswamy and senior BJP leader Thirunavukkarasar, also extended their greetings.

Meanwhile, Puducherry Lt Governor Mukut Mithi and Chief Minister N Rangasamy also greeted the people on the occassion.
