Thai royal honour for veteran Pakistani nurse
Bangkok, Nov 7 (UNI) Pakistan's popular health worker Nisab Akhtar was today conferred the prestigious Thai royal award in recognition of her contribution to the field of public healthcare in Asia.
Ms Akthar, 74, was given the Princess Srinagarindra Award for 2007 by Thai Princess Mahachakri Sirindhorn at a ceremony at the historical Grand Palace here this afternoon.
The award is given annually to an individual nurse or registered nursing organization in South, Southeast or East Asia.
Ms Ahktar, recognised as a role model for the nursing profession in Pakistan, was chosen for her role in developing the nursing profession in Pakistan over the past fifty years.
