Short term loan for Safai Karamacharis raised

Chandigarh, Nov 7 (UNI) The Haryana Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation has increased the financial help from Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000 to be given under short term loan to the Safai Karamacharis and their dependents engaged in sanitation work in the state with a view to providing them self employment opportunities.

Stating this here today, Social Welfare Minister Kartar Devi said the Haryana Government was providing loan to such beneficiaries with the assistance of National Safai Karamchari Finance and Development Corporation and the loan rupees upto 10 lakh was being given to the people at the rate of interest 6 per cent.

Ms Kartar Devi said that under the Short Term Loan, a loan of Rs 30,000 was being given to the beneficiaries at the rate of 4 per cent annual rate of interest.

Similarly, under the Mahila Samridhi Yojna, a sum of Rs 30,000 would be given at the rate of 4 per cent annual rate of interest.

The beneficiaries would not have to deposit any money under both the schemes.

The Minister said a sum of Rs five lakh was being given under Long Term Schemes at the rate of interest of 6 per cent annually while the beneficiary share would be 5 per cent of the total loan.

She said that for the purchase of instrument regarding Safai, a sum of Rs 10 lakh would be given to a beneficiary at the rate of interest 6 per cent annually and the beneficiary share would be 5 per cent of the total loan.

She said that the loan would be given only to those people who would be the resident of Haryana and should have the requisite experience and qualification.
