Shimla, Nov 7 (UNI) Senior Himachal Pradesh BJP leaders today launched a scathing attack on the ruling Congress Government for failing to check prices of essential commodities and for being neck deep in corruption.
Addressing public meeting at Bhavanagar in Kinnuar district, former union minister Shanta Kumar promised to provide fear and a corrupt free BJP government in the state, which goes to the polls in two phases on November 14 and December 19.
The BJP promises to provide fear and corruption free government in the state, which had been mis-ruled during the last four and a half years, he said.
Accusing the state government of failing to spend the money earmarked for the tribal areas, he said while the BJP had spent 9 per cent of the budget on tribal areas as against six per cent by the successive Congress Governments.
Addressing a public meeting at Sangla in the district former state chief minister P K Dhumal said the Congress had sided with the industrialists, who were executing several hydel projects, while baton charging and ordering police firing on the local people and environmentalists opposing these projects.
He said the present Congress Government was one of the most corrupt state government ever that had failed to deliver on all fronts.
Later, addressing mediapersons at Sangla, he said the BJP Government on power to power would not allow the setting up of hydel projects at the cost of the state's ecology and environment.
