JD(U) MLA Anant Singh gets bail in scribe assault case

Patna, Nov 07 (UNI) Chief Judicial Magistrate of Patna Raghvendra Prasad Singh today granted regular bail to ruling JD(U) MLA Anant Singh and two others in connection with the recent assault on journalists and their wrongful confinement.

After hearing the matter the CJM granted bail to the accused who included Vipin Singh and Mukesh Kumar. Two others were also granted regular bail.

Arguing for Anant Singh,the defense counsel pleaded that as per medical examination the injury inflicted on the scribes were not serious and could not be considered as an attempt to murder.

The court directed release of the accused after furnishing of bail bonds.

All the three accused were produced before the court amid tight security.

Mr Anant Singh was in the Beur Central jail after his arrest in connection with the November 1 incident. The court had granted him 14 days' judicial remand.

An FIR had been lodged with the Sachiwalaya police station in which Mr Singh and his two aides--Mukesh Singh and Vipin Singh--were accused of attempting to murder the scribes. They were also booked under the arms act. 24 other persons were made accused for assulting the scribes.
