Expert committee to look into fissures in Mullaperiyar dam
Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 7 (UNI) Kerala today appointed an expert committee to look into the fissures developed in the Mullaperiyar dam, which has been a contentious issue between the state and Tamil Nadu.
The decision to appoint an expert committee was taken as there were reports of fissures in the dam, Water Resources Minister N K Premachandran said.
The team, led by former Chief Engineer M K Parasmeswaran Nair, had been asked to inspect the dam and submit a report soon, a release said quoting him.
Mr Premachandran said the situation at Mullaperiyar dam was being monitored after the water level reached above the danger mark.
All precautionary measures had been taken, he added.
