Ahmedabad, Nov 7 (UNI) The Election Commission (EC) today held draw of lots to allot telecast or broadcast time to the recognised political parties in poll-bound Gujarat.
Accordingly, the six recognised parties--Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India (M), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Indian National Congress (INC) and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) were allotted telecast and broadcast time on Doordarshan and Akashwani in view of the next month's elections to the state assembly.
According to a Prasar Bharati release, the telecast or broadcast slots were alloted to the political parties by draw of lots.
Gujarat additional chief electoral officer Ashok Manek drew lots to allot 38 slots to the recognised political parties as per the telecast broadcast time earmarked by the EC.
The political messages will be telecast or broadcast by Doordarshan, Ahmedabad and Akashvani, Ahmedabad respectively from November 29 to December 8.
The lots were drawn in the presence of the recognised political parties representatives. Ahmedabad Doordarshan Director T S Gagan, All India Radio Director B M Pandya were also present, among other officials, during the draw of lots.
