Congress
today
urged
the
Congress-led
United
Progressive
Alliance(UPA)
government
at
the
Centre
to
declare
Nandigram
a
''sensitive''
area.
''The
Centre
should
impose
Article

of
the
constitution
and
declare
the
area
as
sensitive.
The
Central
Reserve
Police
Force(CRPF)
should
be
deployed
in
Nandigram
under
the
Centre's
supervision,''
Trinamool
Congress
chief
Mamata
Banerjee
told
a
press
conference
here.
She also exhorted the Central government to dismiss the CPI(M)-led Left Front government of West Bengal.
Meanwhile, veteran Marxist leader Jyoti Basu told reporters after attending a front meeting that the ''deployment of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Nandigram has been postponed and it has been done on the basis of a consensus among the Left Front partners.'' However, Left Front Chairman Biman Basu, denying that the Left Front had taken any such decision, said ''it is up to the Chief Minister to decide what to do.'' At least four people were killed and 15 others, including a para military force jawan, injured as rival parties clashed and landmines exploded in escalated violence recently in Nandigram.
