Bangalore, Nov 7 (UNI) Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party leaders today demanded arrest of Congress leader D K Shivakumar for his 'provocative speech' against the party Member of Parliament Ananth Kumar recently.

Speaking to newsmen here, the leaders D H Shankaramurthy, Jagadish Shettar and V S Acharya said the remarks of Mr Shivakumar attracted the section 504 of the Indian Penal Code for provoking the people to indulge in disruption of peace. Mr Shivakumar had taken exception to the remarks made by the MP and had adviced the party workers at a function to 'strip' the attire of MP in public for having made such a remark against the party leadership. Police should immediately arrest Mr Shivakumar and initiate criminal proceedings against him, they demanded.

They also condemned the 'cleaning operation' took up by the Congress near the Gandhi statue, where the BJP leaders observed dharna recently demanding installation of the BJP-JD(S) coalition government and said by doing so the Congress had insulted the Gandhiji.
