Lankan
Tamils,
were
today
arrested
when
they
attempted
to
lay
siege
to
the
office
of
the
Sri
Lankan
Deputy
High
Commission
here,
condemning
the
killing
of
LTTE
political
wing
leader
S
P
Tamilselvan
last
week.
Led by Kazhagam President Kolathur Mani, the activists, carrying placards denouncing the killing, assembled near the Russian Cultural Centre on the Kasturiranga Road and came in a procession to the Lankan Deputy High Commission office.
However, police personnel, who had barricaded the area, arrested them and took them in a police van. They were released later.
The agitators also appealed to the Lankan Government to stop killing of innocent Tamils.
Mr Tamilselvan, who had participated in the Norway-brokered peace talks, was killed in an air strike by the Lankan military.
