1.23 lk ton bajra procured by govt agencies
Chandigarh, Nov 7: Government procuring agencies in Haryana have purchased 1.23 lakh tonnes of bajra out of total arrival 1.95 lakh tonnes which has arrived in the mandis of the state so far.
The farmers of the state had been paid a sum of Rs 74.15 crore for the purchase of the same.
Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan today said that Hafed had purchased 67,847 tonnes of bajra, Haryana Warehousing Corporation 39,089 tonnes, Confed 8,227 tonnes, Haryana Food and Supplies Department 5,963 tonnes and Haryana Agro Industries Corporation 2,477 tonnes of bajra.
Mr Chander Mohan said that last year no purchase of bajra was made by the government procuring agencies. Last year, 77,214 tonnes of bajra had arrived in the mandis of the state.
He said the bajra was being purchased at the minimum support price of Rs 600 per quintal.
