UP STF nabs Bihar's 'master kidnapper'

Lucknow, Nov 6 (UNI) The Special Task Force of the Uttar Pradesh police today arrested Sharif Diwan, a 'master kidnapper' from Bihar who had earlier escaped from police custody.

STF said here that Sharif was arrested from Ghazipur area of the state capital followeing a tip off.

A resident of Gopalganj in Bihar, Sharif had escaped from police custody by breaking open a court lock up in August last year after he was arrested following the kidnapping of a Varanasi businessman's son. While the STF and special operations group (SOG) of Varanasi police had managed to free Gaurav Dwivedi in April last year, it had also arrested Sharif for the crime.

Besides Sharif, STF had also arrested Raju 'Bengali' for the crime. Bengali is a close associate of Prem Prakash Singh alias Munna Bajrangi, wanted for the murder of BJP MLA Krishnanad Rai in November, 2005.

Sharif was arrested from an under construction building in Andhrapul area of Varanasi last year.
