Spl bus service for girl students

Chandigarh, Nov 6 (UNI) A special bus service, to be run by women drivers only, has been launched in Sirsa district to cater to the rural girl students.

An official spokesman said besides providing a convenient travel facility to the rural girl students, the launching of this all women bus service had also opened new vistas of job opportunities for the women of the district.

The women drivers would ply these special buses and a woman police official would be deputed in them so that the girl students of rural area and their guardians remain free of any tension or insecurity.

The District Administration had provided two buses for the Women Wing of National Government College, the spokesman said.

He said the District Administration had engaged the services of three women drivers to ply the buses for Women Wing and Prayas School.

He said many girls of rural areas remain deprived of education as their guardians did not send their girls to the city colleges for higher education due to security reasons.

The new service had been launched in this backdrop, he added.
