Amritsar, Nov 6 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh openers H H Watekar and L N P Reddy slammed centuries in their teams second innings as the four day Ranji Trophy Super league Group-B match against Punjab ended in a draw at the Gandhi Grounds here today.
The hosts, who had gained a first innings lead of 38 runs earned three vital points. Andhra on the other hand secured one point.
Watekar, who had slammed 137 in the first innings, followed it up with another fine performance scoring an unbeaten 100 with the help of ten fours and a six. He retired hurt soon after reaching the three figure mark in 194 minutes off 146 balls.
Andhra finished the fourth days' play at 287 without loss, after Punjab had declared their first innings close at the overnight score of 372 for nine. Watekar and Reddy were associated in a 151 runs opening wicket stand before the former retired hurt after being struck by a Amanpreet delivery. Reddy's unbeaten knock of 114 came in 325 minutes off 284 balls and was studded with 11 fours and a six.
A S K Verma who replaced Watekar remained unbeaten on 58. In the absence of their star bowler Gagandeep, who did not take the field today, Punjab's attack lacked penentration.
