Lucknow, Nov 6 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Food Processing Minister Anand Sen Yadav today tendered his resignation from the Mayawati cabinet following the alleged involvement of his close relative in the murder of a girl student in Faizabad district.
Official sources said that Mr Yadav sent his resignation letter to Chief Minister Mayawati here this evening.
Talking to UNI, Mr Yadav said that he had taken the decision to resign on moral grounds.
''Though I am clean on the issue, but I have tendered my resignation to prevent political stir in the state by the opposition,'' he said.
His resignation came after the issue rocked the state assembly today with Leader of the Opposition Mulayam Singh Yadav alleging that the Minister was involved in the crime and the state government was protecting him.
Vijay Sen Yadav, said to be a relative of the minister, was involved in kidnapping and murder a third year LLB student of Saket Degree College in Faizabad on October 22.
