Srinagar, Nov 6 (UNI) Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti today said the presence of Army in bulk in civilian areas of Jammu and Kashmir has led to more incidents of violence as compared to places with less concentration of troops.

Addressing people in various villages of Noorabad constituency in Anantnag district of south Kashmir, she said her party's demand of troop reduction in Jammu and Kashmir actually envisaged a congenial atmosphere, which would be free from harassment, humiliations and inhospitable environment for the people of the state.

Ms Mufti said the PDP, since its inception, has advocated for a dignified life for the people of Jammu and Kashmir which could be possible only if the civil institutions were empowered, and the troops reduced from the civilian areas.
