HC initiates contempt proceedings against four more advocates
Chennai, Nov 6 (UNI) Taking a serious note of the alleged attack on a Magistrate by some lawyers, the Madras High Court today suo motu initiated contempt proceedings against four more advocates in connection with the October 31 attack.
The Court had last week initiated contempt proceedings against two advocates Thangadurai and Elangovan in connection with the attack and directed them to appear before the Bench and give an explanation on November 29.
A Division Bench comprising Justices P K Misra and S Tamilvanan initiated contempt proceedings against advocates R Natarajan, A B Kannan, B Gerald and P Venkatesan and directed them to appear before the court on December 6.
The Bench said according to the complaint filed by Egmore Fifth Metropolitan Magistrate S Muruganandam, who came under attack from the advocates at his chamber after he refused bail to an accused in a theft case, the four advocates appeared to be involved in it.
