Chandigarh, Nov 6 (UNI) The Haryana Transport Department has spent a sum of Rs 20 crore during the last 32 months for the maintenance, repairs and renovation of the bus stands in the state.
Stating this here today, Transport Minister Mange Ram Gupta said that during the current financial year a sum of Rs 10 crore had been earmarked for the maintenance and repair of the bus stands.
Besides, a provision of Rs 5 crore had also been made for the construction of new bus stands with modern concept design at various places in the State.
Mr Gupta said that all the 88 bus stands in the state would be renovated so as to upgrade the passenger amenities being provided to the commuters including toilets, flooring, seating arrangements, lighting, drinking and parking facilities.
He said under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda a separate provision of 10 crore per annum had been made for the maintenance and repair of the bus stands for the first time in the state.
