Goal glut in Junior Nehru, 31 scored in four matches

New Delhi, Nov 6 (UNI) It was goal rush again as 31 were scored in four matches with Young Pioneers, Imphal and DAV Chandigarh leading the show with big victories in 36th Nehru Juniuor hockey tournament here today.

Rohit Thakur slammed five goals, including a hat-trick to help DAV thrash Moti Lal Nehru School of sports, Rai(Haryana) 6-0 after leading 3-0 at lemon break. Vijay Deshwal was the other scorer.

Earlier in a lackluster encounter, Young Pioneers blanked Loyola English school, Nagaon (Assam) 10-0.

The winners, who led 4-0 at half time, could have scored more but for the muffed chances.

M Amarjit Singh (3), Rabikanta, N Biken (two each), K Deyashwor, Longolijam Leejohn, and C Dayananda Singh (one each) were the goal getters.

Rakesh Roshan Ekka scored a hat-trick as Army Boys Sports Coy, Bangalore routed NCC Directorate (NE) 8-1.

For the winners, who led 3-0 at intervel, the other goal scorers were Uday Bara, Bipin Ekka (two each) and Avinash A T (one).

Sanayaima Singh scored the lone goal for NCC.

In the last fixture of the day, Govt School, Gurgaon outplayed Khalsa Collegiate School Amritsar 5-1.

Gurgoan school was ahead 3-1 at the breather. Pankaj (2), Sidhant Gautam, Sandeep Kumar, Rohit Malik (one each) earned goals for Gurgoan while Manpreet Singh reduced the margin for the losers.
