GAIL to import LNG from Nigeria

New Delhi, Nov 6 (UNI) State-run GAIL (India) Limited today said it may import liquified natural gas (LNG) from Nigeria and buy equity stakes in new LNG projects in the West African country.

''We are exploring areas of mutual co-operation in hydrocarbons with Nigeria,'' company's Chairman and Managing Director U D Choubey told reporters after meeting Nigeria's vice-president here.

GAIL is exploring countries like Abu Dhabi, Oman, Yemen, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Australia as important prospects for LNG sourcing. GAIL has a participating stake in the Dahej Terminal and the upcoming Kochi Terminal in Kerala.

It has been entrusted with the responsibility of reviving the LNG terminal at Dabhol as well as sourcing LNG. It has signed the sales purchase agreement for importing LNG from Iran for two MMtpa.
