Court concerned at poor power scene; DVC to supply nore

Ranchi, Nov 6 (UNI) With power scene deteriorating fast in the state particularly in the state capital, Jharkhand High Court today directed the Jharkhand State Electricity Board (JSEB) to file affidavit by November 20 regarding the steps taken for the improvement of the situation.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Muthuswamy Karpagyavinayagam and Justice D K Sinha passed the order while hearing a writ petition filed M S Mittal, an advocate of Jharkhand High Court.

The court further directed the Damodar valley Corporation to sort out the matter regarding power supply in the state capital keeping in view the problems of public at large.

During the course of argument, V P Singh, senior advocate appearing on behalf of the JSEB, pleaded before the court that shortage of around 125 to 150 mw electricity resulted in poor power scne in the capital.

The three electricity supply units (Talchar-Orissa, Farrakka-West Bengal and Kahalgaon-Bihar) were having their maintenance.

Mr Singh further informed the court that the Board asked the DVC to supply 100 mw in addition so that there was no short supply.

The DVC principally agreed into it.
