Chargesheet filed against robbers

Mumbai, Nov 6 (UNI) Police have filed a chargesheet under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against eight robbers who had terrorised the metropolis over the pasr few months.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Jalendra Khandagale filed the chargesheet in the court of MCOCA judge Mridula Bhatkar here today. The judge has fixed November 13 for framing charges against the eight.

The eight have been identified as Shailesh Madhukar Nivatkar (32), Raju Lalmani Singh alias Rajesh (28), Mohan Premkumar Kashyap (30), Ashok Prabhakar Kom (26), Hitendra Hemchandra Raut (31), Pravin Lahugaonkar (31), Vinod Shankar Polivar alias Chiknya (25) and Sunil Narottam Mahida alias don (28).

The eight were allegedly involved in several robbery cases, especially in jewellery shops, across the metropolis.

A ninth accused, Sanjay Nivatkar, is presently in jail in connection with another case.
