Tribals launch 'padayatra' against Bauxite mining
Visakhapatnam, Nov 5 (UNI) The agitation against the proposed Bauxite Mining Project has gained momentum, with the tribals launching a 'padayatra' at Sappala village in G K Veedhi mandal here today.
Talking to newspersons here, CPI district unit Secretary J V Sathyanarayanamurthy said the seven-day 'padayatra' by 18 tribals, including two women, would culminate at Makavaraipatnam.
They would hold meetings in all the hamlets to create awareness on the ''ill-effects'' of mining.
The party would also organise various programmes to protest against the mining, he added.
