Kolkata, Nov 5 (UNI) The Centre has decided to set up six more National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) across the country in collaboration with CSIR to improve the pharmaceutical sector, Steel, Chemicals and Fertilisers Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said today.
Mr Paswan said this while inaugurating the second NIPER in the country at Indian Institute of Chemical Biology (IICB) here.
He said pharmaceutical sector was an important sector which lacked efficient manpower and hence the Government has decided to increase the number of NIPERs in the country adding four new NIPERs would start functioning in the current year.
''Although at present common people cannot understand the importance of pharmaceutical sector but once professionally qualified and trained NIPER pass outs will start working in large numbers in the field, people will start feeling the importance of the sector,'' Mr Paswan observed.
Though the NIPER would operate from IICB here, the land for it has already been allotted by the state government at Baruipur, Mr Paswan informed.
He also said the Union government has already approved a plan to introduce health insurance of Rs 30000 for BPL families in the country.
