Kochi, Nov 5 (UNI) Eleven officers and 16 sailors, passing out of the School of Naval Oceanology and Meteorology (SNOM), were awarded M Sc and B Sc (Meteorology) degrees respectively by the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) here today.
According to an official release, the ceremony was held coinciding with the SNOM's 22nd anniversary celebrations.
CUSAT Pro-Vice Chancellor N D Inasu was the Chief Guest while Rear Admiral Sunil Lanba, Chief of Staff, Southern Naval Command, was the Guest of Honour.
The function was attended by a large number of dignitaries from both within the Navy as well as from the Department of Atmospheric Sciences, CUSAT.
The SNOM, functioning under the Southern Naval Command, was the alma-mater for Meteorology officers and sailors of the Indian Navy and was the only professional institution for training naval personnel in the field of Meteorology and Oceanography in support of operational weather and ocean forecasting applications.
