Chandigarh, Nov 5 (UNI) The Haryana government has set up District Disaster Management Authorities in all districts of the state.
Each such authority will have Deputy Commissioner as Chairperson ex-officio and Chairman of Zila Parishad would be Co-Chairperson of the Authority, an official spokesman said.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner will be Chief Executive Officer ex-officio, District Superintendent of Police (for Gurgaon district) and Superintendent of Police or Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters) will be member ex-officio.
The Chief Medical Officer will also be member ex-officio and two members would include Superintending Engineer Public Works (Building and Roads Department) and District Revenue and Disaster Management Officer.
The headquarters of each District Disaster Management Authority will be at the district headquarters.
The Authority would meet at least once in a year as and when required at such time and place as the Chairman of the Authority may think fit.
The District Authority would act as the district planning coordinating and implementing body for disaster management. It would take all measures for disaster management in the district in accordance with the guidelines laid down by the National Disaster Management Authority and the Haryana State Disaster Management Authority.
It would prepare a disaster management plan including district response plan for the district. The authority would coordinate and monitor implementation of national policy, Haryana State disaster management policy, national disaster management plan, Haryana disaster management plan and district disaster management plan.
It would ensure that the areas in the district vulnerable to disasters were identified and measures for the prevention of disasters and the mitigation of its effect are undertaken by the departments of the state government and local authorities.
