products,

with
the
UK-based
Somar
Technology
firm.
Talking to newspersons here, GET Managing Director V Kachapeswaran said time was now apt for such a product when there was a growing need for energy management and concerns were being raised on conserving the environment.
''We see a huge market potential and the Company is looking at Rs 350 to Rs 400 million in the next two years'', he added.
Somar International Managing Director David Bone said the Chennai-based firm would be the exclusive master distributor for these products in India.
He said India was one of the most exciting markets in the world for Somar. India's rapid economic growth based on increased productivity was leading to energy shortages.
''This in turn is not only driving up prices, but also significantly increasing India's Carbon footprint at a time when the industry wants to become more competitive and India is keen to take its place as a responsible nation on the issue of climate change'', he added.
Somar Technical Director Andrew Smith said electric motors were utilised in the production of almost every product. International research bodies estimate that over 50 per cent of drive-power energy could be saved if motors and drive systems became more efficient.
He said if the amount of electricity drawn by a motor could be reduced, while ensuring that torque was available at the shaft as required by the load companies, there could be a dramatic increase in turnover and bring more profit.
''Powerboss just addresses this issue and can significantly contribute to conserving global environment'', he added.
