Jyotiba Phulenagar, Nov 5 (UNI) Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) president and former union agriculture minister Ajeet Singh today claimed participation of farmers was important in the formation of agriculture policy.
''It was due to lack of farmer's participation in the formation of agricultural policy that their problems have increased,'' Mr Singh told UNI here.
Most of the policy makers hail from non-agricultural backgrounds, who fail to understand their problems well, he claimed.
'No policy can prove successful without farmer's contribution,' he observed.
Highlighting the problems of cane farmers in UP, Mr Singh urged the Central government to ease out the ethanol making process from sugarcane, so that its ratio could be increased in petrol.
