Disclose details of Smart City land deal: Oommen Chandy

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 5 (UNI) Alleging that the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government in Kerala has not maintained transparency in providing land to Dubai-based Tecom, for setting up the Smart City Project in Kochi, Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy today said the Chief Minister should disclose details of the deal.

Talking to newspersons here, he charged that the government had made changes in the lease deed after it was approved by the Cabinet to satisfy the Tecom authorities.

Besides, there was no transparency in the changes and it had also cost crores of rupees to the state Exchequer, he added.

According to the original agreement, the government need to pay only Rs 19 crore for 16 per cent shares at the rate of Rs 10 per share.

However, as per the changes in the deed the government had to invest more money depending upon the project cost, he added.
