Kolkata, Nov 5 (UNI) The CBI today interrogated Inspector General of Police (Enforcement Branch) Nazrul Islam in connection with the mysterious death of computer graphics teacher Rizwanur Rahman.
The IG was questioned in his office at Bhawani Bhavan, the state police headquarters.
Mr Islam had earlier told a television channel that he was a witness to the alleged threats by a Kolkata police officer to Sadiq, a witness to the Rizwanur-Priyanka marriage.
The IG said Sadiq had received a threat call over his mobile from Krishnendu Das, a Sub-Inspector of the anti-rowdy section of Kolkata police, when he was sitting in his chamber in Bhawani Bhavan.
Sadique reportedly visited him seeking help after he felt afraid of being killed either by the police or hired goons of the Todis, the IG told the media.
Mr Islam said he had even spoken to Krishnendu Das and asked him not to do anything of the sort.
The body of Rizwanur, who had married Priyanka, the daughter of businessman Ashok Todi, was found beside the railway tracks at Patipukur on the city's northern fringe.
