New Delhi, Nov 5 (UNI) The CBI today filed chargesheets against Ashok Malhotra, six DDA officials and an official of the Delhi Vidhan Sabha for criminal prosecution, cheating, forgery and Prevention of Corruption Act, fraudulently allotting land meant for the rehabilitation of jhuggi jhopri dwellers of Hudson Line and Outrom Line at Dheerpur Phase-I in Gandhi Vihar.
The investigating agency filed chargesheets against the eight accused after obtaining prosecution sanction against the DDA officials.
The CBI registered a case against Malhotra and the DDA officials on July 24 for fraudulent allotment of plots meant for residents of Hudson Line and Outrom Line, who were evicted in 1983-84.
After registering the case, the CBI conducted searches at various places in Delhi and found 17 luxury cars, six two-wheelers and over 100 bank accounts of Malhotra amounting to Rs two crore, which were seized.
During investigation, the CBI established that the jhuggi jhopris in Hudson Line and Outram Line were demolished in 1983-84 and residents were to be provided alternative plots.
The erstwhile residents were required to furnish documents in support of their claim for the plot. Malhotra, the prime accused and kingpin of the racket, had fake and forged documents like ration card, identity card, survey register, photographs, bank challans, prepared in the names of non-existent applicants.
The accused DDA officials, acting in conspiracy with Malhotra, allotted the plots on the basis of forged documents. The accused officials were regular visitors to Malhotra's residence and used to hand over official documents like possession letter, allotment letter relating to allotment of resettlement plots to him, and in turn, received huge amounts as bribe, the investigation futher established.
Malhotra also got prepared forged and fake GPAs, cash receipts and sold these plots in the open market.
