AP Assembly to meet till Nov 20

Hyderabad, Nov 5 (UNI) The winter session of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, which began on a stormy note today with the Opposition stalling the proceedings on the paddy MSP hike issue, will be held till November 20.

The Business Advisory Committee (BAC) which met under the chairmanship of Speaker K R Suresh Reddy to finalise the agenda for the short session, decided to take up a short duration discussion on the paddy issue as also minorities welfare during the session.

The House would not sit from November 8 to 11 on account of Deepavali.

The State Assembly would sit in the evening on November 14, 15 and 19 to take up, among other Bills, those to replace ordinances to amend the Andhra Pradesh Chit Funds Act, to further amend the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Act and the Andhra Pradesh Municipalities Act and to provide for Constitution of Metropolitan Planning Committee.

Upset with the adjournment of the House without any discussion on the first day itself, CPI Floor Leader Ch Venkata Reddy and BJP Floor Leader G Kishan Reddy urged the Speaker to suspend any member rushing to the well of the House and allow the House to discuss ''burning issues'' concerning the people , including price rise and land for the poor.
