Hyderabad, Nov 5 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Assembly was adjourned twice today as agitated Opposition members stalled the proceedings demanding a discussion on hiking MSP for paddy on par with wheat.
As soon as the House assembled for the inaugural day of the winter session, Speaker K R Suresh Reddy announced disallowing of the adjournment motions given by TDP and TRS on the paddy issue, by CPI and CPM on the alleged non-implementation of the Special Components Plan for SCs and STs and the notice by AIMIM on alleged harassment of Muslims by the police in the name of investigation into the bomb blasts in the city.
Agitated Opposition members rushed into the well of the House and shouted slogans against the Government. They pressed for setting aside regular business and immediate taking up of discussion on the burning issues.
As the repeated appeals by the Speaker to allow the question hour fell on deaf ears, he adjourned the House initially for 15 minutes.
As soon as the House reassembled, the Opposition members trooped into the well of the House.
The Speaker repeatedly urged them to resume their seats and take up the matter during the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting later in the day.
Amid pandemonium the Speaker again adjourned the House for half an hour.
Earlier, the Speaker also disallowed the adjournment motions given notice by lone Janata party member K Ramulu for an immediate discussion on Rs two per kg rice scheme.
