'Amazing South' to be launched in London on Nov 12

Kochi, Nov 5 (UNI) A new tourism package by Kerala, 'Amazing South', focussing on wildlife, ayurveda and dental tourism, will be launched on November 12 at the 'World Travel Market-2007' in London.

Addressing a press conference here today, Kerala Voyages Director George Scaria said the package would be aggressively marketed in the UK, Germany and other European and Asian countries.

''This is an attempt to directly approach the international travellers instead of depending on travel agents in Delhi and Mumbai to market Kerala,'' he said.

Kerala Voyages, the tour division of CEL Tours and Travels Ltd, had tied up with leading channel partners in ayurveda, dental and wildlife tourism to give the tourists an authentic experience of the state and other southern destinations, Mr Scaria added.

The partners were the Kochi-based Punarnava Ayurvedic Hospital, Dr Toms International Dental Care and wildlife consultant Benny Kurian.

The package would be launched by Dr A M Anvar of Punarnava Ayurvedic Hospital and Mr Scaria at WTM-2007 on November 12.

The company is targeting a revenue of six million dollar in the next three to four years from the package, Mr Scaria said.

Dr Anvar, who was also present, said that apart from the international travellers, the product would also target elite Indian travellers like company CEOs and IT professionals.

Citing a study by Lady Hardinge Medical College Hospital in New Delhi that found the IT professionals suffering from higher levels of stress, visual problems and muscular skeletal disorders, Dr Anvar informed a special package had been drawn up for the them.

Special birdwatching and other wildlife tourism packages were being drawn up to showcase the flora and fauna of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, Mr Kurian added.
