Srinagar, Nov 5 (UNI) About 120 school buildings were constructed under the centrally sponsored Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) in the central Kashmir district of Badgam to create requisite educational infrastructure at the grass-root level.
An official spokesman said under the scheme 100 primary school buildings have been completed while 37 such buildings are presently under consideration in the district.
At the upper primary level, 19 school buildings have been completed and 21 are under construction at various stages.
Besides these school buildings, 204 additional classrooms have been constructed while 50 more are under construction.
He said five block resource centers have been also constructed in the district.
The spokesman said with the decision of the Union Government to allow construction of infrastructure under the SSA at secondary and higher secondary level, the infrastructure of Government schools across the state is poised for big leaf in upgradation.
Apart from infrastructure, there are segments in the scheme for recruitment of teachers and ensuring quality education through trainings and other interventions.
