Ranji: Second day's play cancelled due to rain

Chennai, Nov 4 (UNI) Only 3.2 overs of play were possible as heavy rain played spoilsport, ruining the second day's proceedings in the Elite Group A Ranji Trophy match between Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra here today.

Resuming at their overnight score of 261 for four in 86.4 overs, Maharashtra progressed to 272 for four, adding 11 runs during the 19 minutes of play, before a fresh spell of rains forced the players back to the dressing room.

Earlier, play was delayed by two hours due to overnight rains.

When the game finally began at 1130 hrs, overnight batsman Takawale moved from 52 to 60. The other three runs came from leg byes, before rain intervened at 1149 hrs.

Large puddles of water in the outfield ruled out any action and the umpires after conducting fourinspections called off the day's play at 1600 hrs.
