Puducherry, Nov 4: AIADMK Puducherry unit secretary A Anbazhagan today charged that convening of assembly session, beginning tomorrow, was just a 'formality' and not in the true spirit of democracy.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr Anbazhagan said though he had demanded for an 'at least' five-day session ahead of the monsoon session, it came to a close within 'ten minutes.' He said he had already given eight calling attention motions on issues like 'rift' between Chief Minister N Rangasamy and Welfare Minister Kandasamy, deteriorating law and order situation and smuggling of rice via Puducherry.
He reiterated the demand for a CBI inquiry into the alleged rice smuggling and said he had sent letter to the Centre in this regard.
Stating that he had got 'information' that this also would be a 'one-day' session, he dared how it was possible to discuss 'all these' issues in a day.
