BJP withdraws dharna following criticism
Bangalore, Nov 4 (UNI) Bowing to a widespread criticism, BJP today withdrew its round-the-clock dharna by its legislators and leaders demanding the Karnataka Governor to invite its leader B S Yeddyurappa to form the government in the state.
BJP state unit President D V Sadananda Gowda told reporters here today the party would launch a 'Save Democracy Rally' from Kolar from tomorrow focussing on the Centre's delay taking the decision on formation of the BJP-JD(S) government in the state.
The BJP leaders led by Mr Gowda met Governor Rameshwar Thakur this afternoon and urged him to invite the party to form the new government with the help of JD(S) at the earliest.
BJP leaders including Mr Yeddyurappa, Mr H N Anantkumar, MP, spent a night at the Mahatma statue in the city yesterday as part of the dharna.
